I have never come across the spelling for 'peon' until ma mom asked me for its spelling one day around last year.

Peon - Office assistants (read it pee yune not pe on)

And this post was induced by this peon who has achieved what an ordinary peon has not done.

Manish Patel - who started his career as a peon (now i cant say 'an ordinary' peon ;) ) is now a script writer and has gone and won an award.

PARENTS ARE PRECIOUS!!

This was narrated by an IAF pilot at a Seminar recently on Human Relations :

Venkatesh Balasubramaniam (who works for IIT) describes how his gesture of booking an air ticket for his father, his maiden flight, brought forth a rush of emotions and made him (Venkatesh) realize that how much we all take for granted when it comes to our parents.

My parents left for our native place on Thursday and we went to the airport to see them off. In fact, my father had never traveled by air before, so I just took this opportunity to make him experience the same. In spite of being asked to book tickets by train, I got them tickets on Jet Airways. The moment I handed over the tickets to him, he was surprised to see that I had booked them by air. The excitement was very apparent on his face, waiting for the time of travel. Just like a school boy, he was preparing himself on that day and we all went to the airport, right from using the trolley for his luggage, the baggage check-in and asking for a window seat and waiting restlessly for the security check-in to happen. He was thoroughly enjoying himself and I, too, was overcome with joy watching him experience all these things.

As they were about to go in for the security check-in, he walked up to me with tears in his eyes and thanked me. He became very emotional and it was not as if I had done something great but the fact that this meant a great deal to him. When he said thanks, I told him there was no need to thank me. But later, thinking about the entire incident, I looked back at my life. As a child, how many dreams our parents have made come true. Without understanding the financial situation, we ask for cricket bats, dresses, toys, outings, etc. Irrespective of their affordability, they have catered to all our needs. Did we ever think about the sacrifices they had to make to accommodate many of our wishes? Did we ever say thanks for all that they have done for us? Same way, today when it comes to our children, we always think that we should put them in a good school. Regardless of the amount of donation, we will ensure that we will have to give the child the best, theme parks, toys, etc. But we tend to forget that our parents have sacrificed a lot for our sake to see us happy, so it is our responsibility to ensure that their dreams are realized and what they failed to see when they were young. It is our responsibility to ensure that they experience all those and their life is complete.

Many times, when my parents had asked me some questions, I have actually answered back without patience. When my daughter asks me something, I have been very polite in answering. Now I realize how they would have felt at those moments. Let us realize that old age is a second childhood and just as we take care of our children, the same attention and same care needs to be given to our parents and elders. Rather than my dad saying thank you to me, I would want to say sorry for making him wait so long for this small dream. I do realize how much he has sacrificed for my sake and I will do my best to give the best possible attention to all their wishes.

Just because they are old does not mean that they will have to give up everything and keep sacrificing for their grandchildren also. They have wishes, too.

Take care of your parents. THEY ARE PRECIOUS.

With Three Wives !!!

When i was in 8th standard I started learning maths.
Learnt Maths from this Genius (tution sir) and in my high school (1998 - 2000) same genius taught me Maths ,Physics and Chemistry.
When he was at the right age to marry (25) we asked him why he is still unmarried.

He asked us 'Who said i am not yet married?'

We were staring at him in awww

He said 'I am married and have three wives.'
'Maths Physics and Chemistry'.

He is a great person and is still maitaining a balanced life with these three wives (only).
Such is his love for Physics and maths and Chemistry.

He is the secretary of 'The Physics Society'
and is the pet disciple of the founder.

PS: This post was induced by a blog at my workplace intranet by this person on his lovers and wives.

Jai Ho - A R Rahman Concert

The 'jai ho' concert was excellent, showcasing Great talents.
Marg Swarnabhoomi is some 90 km from Chennai and I feel pity for my fellow audience as we had to travel so long for A R Rahman's live concert. They should not call it 'Concert at Chennai'. But for A R Rahman, nobody would have travelled so long.
Next time on, may i request the organizers to conduct such performances in some Open Stadium, nearby the city and request the people humbly to use public transports. Inexperienced drivers driving in ECR in such a traffic, was very dangerous.
The buses arranged by the organizers were all empty. Very few used the facility. I too did not use the Bus service thinking it might be crowded. I went in my bike 180 km up and down. But thats the reason why I bought a 150 cc bike. :)

Blazee, Benny Dayal and Sivamani were as good as they usually are.
Lots of Hindi songs. Performing in TamilNadu many people would have been happier if there were as many songs from Tamil too.
I was expecting Chinmayee to perform 'Sahana' from 'Sivaji, The Boss' and Karthik performing songs esp from Baba. Both did not perform. Chitra was as cool as she is and she filled our hearts with her great voice. 'Kannalaney' from Bombay was the highlight esp after Rahman performed the Hindustani (I think) Arziyan song from Delhi 6 and two more songs clad in Muslim Topi aka yankee, we say 'gulla'.And of course 'Humma' song from the same film was rocking. In the end Jai ho and Vande mataharam was touching.
Everybody performed like a school kid. They jus did what was said and was fantastic. Nothing extra nothing less. Sheer performance. That is what I like in A R Rahman's troupe.
Rehena (A R Rahman's Sister) performed a song and she was mostly with chorus during the concert. It was good to see her performing in her brother's concert esp in his home town - Chennai.

All through the concert i had 'mei silirkum' experience.

The Fireworks was very colorful. Can I say raining colors.

The concert started at 7:30 pm (supposed to start at 6.Thanks to traffic and A R Rahman himself who was late to the venue) and concluded at 10:45 pm.

oh! I forgot to mention 'Mustafa' song. It was awesome and they flew hot air balloons as A R Rahman performed this song. One small remote connection here.

I met my High School tuition mate (remember last seeing him some 5 years back) at the venue. It was really surprising and we felt happy. Cherished our memoirs. (I also befriended Meeran, Hema, Gokul and Hema's friend Anu who are Leo's team Mates at his workplace )

There are three reasons why i cant forget Oct 11 2009.

I watched A R Rahman performing live, met my high school buddy and third reached home safely without (my stolen) helmet. :)

SAVE A LIFE

Got this as a fwd mail. Its true that 108 is doing a great service.

########################################################################
Dear All

I am sharing my personal experience with “108” (EMRI) on their Quick response.

When I travel from Pondicherry to Coimbatore last Sunday (02-08-09) night by Bus, the bus met an accident with lorry in National Highway nearby “Atthur” Landmark: “Paaventhar college of Arts and Science”.

Two of my co-passenger got injured.

One is lady and second is her baby of 15months old.

The lady had an injury in her hand and the baby was motionless. The First-Aid kit is also missing in the bus.

The accident happened at mid-night 00:57am.

On seeing the condition of the baby and mother, I immediately called 108 at 00:59am. Explained the state of injured persons and location of the place, Village, District & Taluk (assisted by a local person). It took around 3minutes.

At 01:03am (within a minute) I got a call from 108 with a conference to the district level center explained the exact location and condition of the persons injured. It took around 3minutes.

At 01:08am again I got a call from the Ambulance saying that they are on the way to accident spot.

To be surprise, the Ambulance reached the spot at 01:17am and started the treatment. The baby was brought to the active state (may be due to timely attempt by 108-EMRI) and medicines given for injured lady. At the end of their treatment both of them came to normal.

The EMRI 108 Ambulance reached the spot within 15minutes from the receipt of information to them

Here I would like express one thing that except me, none of the co-passengers were not aware of 108.

As I am aware of 108 through training given for EMERGENCY EVACUATION DRILL conducted in June ’09, I could help the co-passengers.

Kindly share this experience, so that the people can make use of wonderful service provided by EMRI – “108” in TamilNadu.

###################################################################################

I too have had a similar experience. I am used to go home late in the night and it was saturday. Needless to say, was returning home at around 11:30 - 12:pm on Velachery ByePass road. There was a group of people surrounding a couple of accident victims. They were lying on the median. Bike was lying nearby. It seemed like the accident had taken place not less than 5 mins before. I parked my bike some distance away on the road side and came to the spot.Immediately heard a siren. And it was 108 ambulance service. They took the victims to a nearby hospital. Both in the same van. Only when this ambulance was about to start Appolo Ambulance was reaching the spot. Don't know which one was called first, i was really astonished (shock aaiten) to see a Govt aided service reacting at this pace.

Should say 'Really Great Service for Saving one's Life'.

108 - Jai Ho :)

Signs

Good One

The train has started moving. It is packed with people of all ages, mostly with the working men and women and young college guys and gals. Near the window, seated a old man with his 30 year old son. As the train moves by, the son is overwhelmed with joy as he was thrilled with the scenory outside..

" See dad, the scenory of green trees moving away is very beautiful"

This behavior from a thirty year old son made the other people feel strange about him. Everyone started murmuring something or other about this son."This guy seems to be a crack.." newly married Anup whispered to his wife.

Suddenly it started raining... Rain drops fell on the travelers through the opened window. The Thirty year old son , filled with joy " see dad, how beautiful the rain is .."

Anup's wife got irritated with the rain drops spoiling her new suit.

Anup ," can’t you see its raining, you old man, if ur son is not feeling well get him soon to a mental asylum..and don’t disturb public henceforth"

The old man hesitated first and then in a low tone replied " we are on the way back from hospital, my son got discharged today morning , he was a blind by birth, last week only he got his vision, these rain and nature are new to his eyes.. Please forgive us for the inconvenience caused..."

The things we see may be right from our perspective until we know the truth. Bt when we know the truth our reaction to that will hurt even us. So try to understand the problem better before taking a harsh action

(Got this as a mail.Just posting it as it is very true.)

Its called Mindset - a lesson from the Giants

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Do it - if you wanna learn

If you wanna learn something, start doing it.

for example: if you wanna learn Music, start singing first
only then you will aspire to learn music

if you wanna learn java ,start coding.
only then you will face compilation errors
and that will make you refer the docs and review the code
and make you learn Java.

if you wanna learn cooking start cooking something.
maybe you start with boiling milk, then dosa, idly, chappati
then try your hand in making vegetable fries and then to rice items.

i have learnt this lesson in many instances.

i have learnt riding bicycle by riding it.
read books to improve my reading and writing skills.

i learnt managing people by really managing them and facing hard times.

so i believe in just doing it first whether you know or not if you are really interested in learning a thing.

Impossible is Nothing

Impossible IS NOTHING

This is a case of photographer photographs photographer.
The following photographs were taken by photographer
Hans van de Vorst at the Grand Canyon, Arizona.

The descriptions are his own.

The identity of the photographer IN the photos is unknown.

I was simply stunned seeing this guy standing on

this solitary rock IN the Grand Canyon.
The canyon's depth is 900 meters here.

The rock on the right is next to the canyon and safe.

Watching this guy on his thong sandals,

with a camera and a tripod I asked myself 3 questions:

1. How did he climb that rock?

2. Why not taking that sunset picture on that

rock to the right, which is perfectly safe?

3. How will he get back?

This is the point of no return.

After the sun set behind the canyon's horizon he

packed his things (having only one hand available)
and prepared himself for the jump. This took about 2 minutes.
At that point he had the full attention of the crowd.

After that, he jumped on his thong sandals...
The canyon's depth is 900 meters here.

Now you can see that the adjacent rock is higher so he

tried to land lower, which is quite steep
and tried to use his one hand to grab the rock.

We've come to the end of this little story.

Look carefully at the photographer.
He has a camera, a tripod and also a plastic bag,

all on his shoulder or in his left hand.
Only his right hand is available to grab the rock

and the weight of his stuff is a problem.

He lands low on this flip flops both his right hand

and right foot slips away...
At that moment I take this shot.

He pushes his body against the rock.
He waits for a few seconds, throws his stuff

on the rock, climbs and walks away.

Impossible is Nothing.

Where There is a Will, there is a Way.

Believe in Yourself.

All power is within You.

You can do Anything and Everything.

Have confidence in Yourself
